Lightening the load — Marco Polo Programme

09/11/2009

Efficient transport is the lifeblood of the European economy. We take fast and cheap delivery from factory to consumer across Europe for granted. Road is often the preferred transport mode, but rising road traffic volumes mean more congestion, more pollution and higher costs. The Marco Polo programme of the European Union aims at improving the environmental performance of European freight transport; it helps reduce traffic congestion on Europe’s crowded roads and promotes environment-friendly means of transport. This brochure contains a representative sample from the wide spectrum of Marco Polo projects, the information coming from the participants themselves.
